Productivity Tactics Of The Worlds Most Successful Achievers
I call this the age of “Dramatic Distraction”, and it’s becoming extremely tough for entrepreneurs to stay productive, let alone work at their productive best! Productivity is a very tricky subject, but once simplified can lead to staggering results. I have been studying some of the top executives, CEOs, authors, and millionaires for 10 years now and wanted to share a couple thoughts that can elevate your productivity at a high level. These have personally helped me go from working 80+ hours a week producing 750,000 annually to producing over 1.4 million in only 15-20 hours a week. They work, trust me!
So what is Productivity? A productive life is a life focused on and committed to producing and progressing towards your vision. Don’t mistake busy-ness for productivity. You can be busy doing lots of things and getting a lot of things done but not progressing towards your ultimate goal or vision. PROGRESS is the measure of productivity. These 5 tactics are simple, but very powerful and once implemented will make an immediate difference.
Make a Stop Doing List: The greatest wisdom of all time is in astutely choosing what NOT to do with your time. A stop doing list is sometimes more important than a to do list. Every productive person obsessively sets to do lists, but those who play at world-class also record what they commit to stop doing. Steve Jobs said that what made Apple Apple was not so much what they chose to build but all the projects they chose to ignore.
Refuse Interference: I fiercely fight distraction in my own life and teach the teams I work with the same. Everyone’s fighting for your focus. And too many people are stealing your attention. Don’t be so generous in giving it to them – unless it’s for something that truly matters. So, clean out the distractions in your workspace and personal life. Please remember: Distraction is the greatest thief of time. And time is a non- renewable resource.
Sell Yourself: The reason why most people can’t focus consistently is because they haven’t actually sold themselves on the task at hand or the thing they are trying to do. By sold I mean they have cut out the alternative, they know the importance of what they are doing, the purpose and ideal outcome that they are looking for. If you procrastinate then you haven’t sold yourself on it yet. Don’t get yourself involved unless you are sold on the activity in front of you.
Show up Charged: How you show up is exactly how your entire day goes. Show up with energy and strength and you will be more productive. A morning routine is crucial to creating a productive day. All successful people I have ever met, studied, or read about start their morning in a very powerful way. Does your action and thoughts in the morning set you up for a winning day, or “just another day?”
Build Rituals: When I studied the lives of people of great output like Stephen King, Winston Churchill and Richard Branson, I saw that they didn’t leave their productivity to the fleeting winds of inspiration. Instead, they instituted precise rituals into their daily lives that allowed their creativity to flourish. Stephen King, for example, sits down to work at 8 am every morning, in the same chair, with his papers set in the same way. His belief is that this obsessive consistency sends a signal to his mind to focus and deliver serious results.
There is nothing more valuable than time if invested wisely. I’ve never met a wealthy man who didn’t value his time, and I’ve never met a poor man who did. Realize, this is the greatest time in human history for those who take 100% responsibility for their economic well being. Commit to these tactics with the focus that your life deserves, and continue to cement in your head that you are always in control of your economy regardless of your outside circumstances. Wishing you an amazing rest of this year! Respect to you and the progress you’re making towards a world class life. The world needs you operating at your absolute best! As for me, I’m just trying to shift our culture one Entrepreneur at a time.
